Our Story

Three generations. One little shop on Route 6. Nearly fifty years of feeding Northeastern Pennsylvania the best hoagies and cheesesteaks around.

How It All Started

The name came from family. The recipes came from heart. The rest is almost fifty years of history.

1976

A Hoagie Shop Is Born

Tom and Sue opened a small takeout sandwich shop on Route 6 in Mayfield, PA. The name? Borrowed from family members who ran a pizzeria elsewhere in Pennsylvania. Steve and Irene never actually worked behind the counter here — but their name stuck, and a NEPA legend was born.

1993

The Next Generation

Two 18-year-olds — Austin (Katie Yerke's brother) and a friend — took over the shop. Young, ambitious, and determined to keep the tradition alive. Austin eventually became sole owner and ran the shop for about a decade, building a loyal following one hoagie at a time.

~2003

Katie & Steve Step Up

When Austin decided to move on, Katie Yerke and Steve Archer stepped in. They expanded the menu from about 10 hoagies to the massive lineup you see today — 22+ cheesesteaks, loaded fries, pierogies, and more. They brought the same family heart with a bigger appetite.

Today

Nearly 50 Years Strong

Still family-owned. Still cooking all meats in-house daily. Still the place where NEPA comes for the best hoagies and cheesesteaks around. From 10 sandwiches to over 100 menu items, one thing has never changed: the commitment to quality that keeps customers coming back generation after generation.

“We firmly believe that good service and good quality will persevere — and our regular customers confirm this conviction day after day.”

— Katie & Steve, Owners

What Makes Us Different

It is not just a sandwich. It is a way of life in NEPA.

Cooked In-House Daily

Our turkey, roast beef, and porketta are never pre-packaged. Every cut is roasted in our kitchen each morning. You can taste the difference.

Named After Our Neighbors

The Throop. The Carbondale. The Peckville. Our sandwiches carry the names of the NEPA towns we know and love — because this food belongs to this community.

Nearly 50 Years of Tradition

Since 1976, three generations of owners have poured their hearts into this shop. The recipes evolve, but the dedication to quality never wavers.

Community-Driven Menu

Our Facebook followers vote on new specials — and the winners earn a permanent spot on the menu. You don't just eat here. You shape what we make.
